
Rachel Horton is a Dallas-based marketing and communications leader who has built and led marketing and communications functions across four different industries over 27 years, having led marketing or communications teams at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Health Resources, Texas Instruments, Micron, and SMU Lyle School of Engineering. She has also served as a branding and communications consultant for companies including biotech startup Revalia Bio.
Rachel has a degree in Journalism with a minor in Creative Writing from Pepperdine University. She started her career as a reporter in Dallas, winning an Associated Press Managing Editor's Award in 2000 for a series of articles she wrote for the Arlington Morning News about a Mansfield-based boot camp where inmates were being abused by guards. Because of her articles, state senators got involved, audited the facility, and shut it down. From there, she went on to work for The Dallas Morning News during the advent of the Internet.
Most recently, Rachel debuted her first children’s book. She currently leads a marketing and communications team at SMU Lyle and serves as Consulting Director of Editorial at TechArena. She is also working on a novel.
